6.2 Reflection
Candidates regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences. (PSC 6.2/ISTE 6c)
Artifact: Blog
Reflection
The ePortfolio is a required project for ITEC 7500. I completed this course the spring of 2015. The purpose of the portfolio is to document mastery of the ISTE technology facilitation standards. A student blog is a component of the online portfolio, and it allows for a more personal reflection on one's development of expertise as an instructional technology facilitator. The shape of my philosophy and vision is can be seen more day-to-day and week to week by reading my blog.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of Reflections (PSC 6.2); I regularly evaluated my professional growth and I reflected on the impact my progress had on my classroom practice. My blog reflects my journey as well as the path of many others that have read and been contributors to my blog. Sharing this publishing tool continues to provide an interaction that engages me with others that was unimaginable during my years as an undergrad. I can seek opinions, advocate support for a cause, or offer advise from my humble experiences.
I learned to appreciate this ability to reflect online. While online bullying and online abuses remain a concern, I believe the benefits of blogging can out reach any associated risk. In the future I will support policy for consequences for online behavior that is harmful.
The Capstone class and my student blog have changed how I approach student publishing. My students have more opportunities in my class to use publishing tools, such as EDMODO and GOOGLE-DOCS. Using these tools, students are more engaged in content learning inside and outside the classroom. The time students are engaged in publishing a content project is an indicator of their content gain. Similar to looking in the mirror, students tend to embrace technology.
