Reflection
The Georgia Assessment of Performance on School Standards (GAPPS) analysis was a required assignment for ITEC 7460. I completed the evaluation project the fall of 2014. My investigation targeted technology integration, instruction effectiveness, and professional learning needs.Using the assignment template, the Professional Learning Standards' rating scale (not addressed, emergent, operational, or fully operational), and my collected evidence from interviews, observations, group discussions, and performance data, I interpreted the findings and included recommendations in my report. My recommendations aligned to the School Improvement Plan,.and it included specific professional development goals. I address the immediate goals by implementing small group and one-on-one coaching sessions.
I demonstrated my program evaluation skills by implementing a school-wide evaluation and reporting the results. My collection of data included observations, faculty interviews, and performance data. This data reflected current practices and indicated strengths and weaknesses. In order to advance instruction practices and uses of technology, I presented my report to school leadership members and I proposed feasible professional learning opportunities to meet unique faculty needs.
Implementation of this project was very useful. I learned that justifications for professional learning should include input from classroom teachers, and such input will vary depending on instruction content, years of service, and technology resources. This project established a practice of including teacher input for more frequent PL participation. The measurable increase in PL participation was due to the collaborative planning and collaborative learning.
