Artifact:
Diversity Awareness Class Presentation
Reflection:
The spring of 2014, I completed an ITEC 7305 assignment. For this presentation on the diversity of the students I serve, I used digital tools to graphically model data. My presentation reflects student demographics and content assessment data. The investigation was part of an effort to unveil intervention needs to improve instructional practices and advance student content gains in science.
The goal of the investigation was to present data descriptive of the student population. The presentation was complied using spreadsheets, tables, and PowerPoint. The data in this report was graphically presented for clarity on the status of student demographics and assessment numeral data. This report helped me in my effort to make recommendations for learning initiatives to better advance English Learners learning in 8th grade science.
This presentation is part of my introduction of sheltered content instruction to the education community. To better culture understanding and highlight our school's mission, I have recommended this presentation as a introductory tool for new teachers and visitors to our school. Comments provided by teachers that have viewed the presentation were positive; teachers noted that they were not aware of the vast student diversity.
